Home Flood Insurance a Necessity

October 16th, 2009 No comments

You may live anywhere in the United States. You can live in a desert or in a city that has no river or on the coast or near a lake. Wherever you are living, flooding can just happen whenever. Flooding is a natural disaster that human beings have no control of. In fact, floods take place in 50 states. If you’re asking the question of “Who needs home flood insurance?”, the answer is everyone does. It is important to have it and not need it that not have it but need it.

Let’s say that your home was flooded and you didn’t have insurance. You will burn a hole in your wallet just by paying for the reconstruction of your home and buying the assets that you lost. It is not expensive. The rates differ though. These depend on the kind of home owner you are as well as the risk of your area to flooding. You can even get cheap home flood insurance. You just have to know where to look. The federal law requires everyone to get insurance and that is why insurance companies can provide their customers with the home flood insurance that are right for their lifestyle and their budget.

If your community is active in the prevention of flood, then you can buy it from your agent via the National Flood Insurance Program. It has the assistance of the United States government. In fact, the President of the United States declares that all homeowners must have home flood insurance. Know that the homeowner insurance does not cover flooding. You need to have a separate policy and this is the home flood insurance. There are insurance companies which issue the payment along with the mortgage to make it easier for their clients to pay both.

Premiums will be lower if there is less risk of flood. But if the customer is residing in a high-risk area, then the flood insurance rate is higher than usual. Before you opt for one, order a CLUE report. Clue means Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange. This is the five-year history of your home.

Insurance agents require this report from you for them to determine your home flood insurance rate. You can get a copy online along with the natural hazard disclosure report. CLUE reports cost roughly around $20. You should also let a qualified home inspector do the visual inspection of your home and check whether there is mold that can lead to water damage. Contracts come with the inspection of the home so that the buyer will be more assured that he is not at risk just in case flooding does happen.

How to Save Money on Orthodontic Braces & Cosmetic Dentistry

July 9th, 2009 No comments

It’s finally happened. The moment that you’ve been worrying about for so long. Your daughter is growing up and it’s become clear that she needs braces. When you weren’t looking, she has developed the tell tale overbite.

While it may not have mattered to her as much a few years ago, it does now because she’s a lot more concerned about her appearance than she was then. However, the thought of getting braces is nothing short of terrifying to both her and to your wallet! With the right dental plan and the right orthodontist, you both can rest assured that your needs will be met, without breaking your budget too badly.

The cosmetic dentistry field is one of the most heavily used areas of dental care today. People are coming in with all types of crooked and misshapen teeth and having a complete “smile” makeover performed, as they are so fondly referred to. This will not only improve their personal appearance, but also boost their self esteem at the same time.

The only problem with this scenario above is the cost of having anything cosmetic done to your teeth. Dental insurance simply will not cover any type of cosmetic dentistry, unless it’s a special case where the procedure to be performed is deemed to be necessary in order to return the persons appearance back to the way it was after an accident. The accident must be provided for within your insurance policy.

Another option that you have for saving money on orthodontics treatment is called a discount dental plan. These plans are not like insurance policies, so you can be seen for an existing condition. Discount dental plans offer substantial savings on braces and other orthodontic dental care. Some discount plans even offer big savings on cosmetic dentistry!

If you or one of your family members are in need of braces or need to see an orthodontist for any other reason, you should take a good look at what discount dental plans have to offer. If dental insurance won’t cover it and you’re going to be forced to pay 100% of the costs out of your own pocket, you’ve got nothing to lose, except maybe a few hundred (or thousand) dollars by not checking into it? So what are you waiting for?

Eliminate Credit Card Debt and Stats

April 30th, 2009 No comments

The Average American holds seven credit cards in their wallet at any given time, and one out of every seven Americans has 10 credit cards! The credit card debt in America has been steadily rising over the last decade.

Some studies have shown over 70 percent of consumers use cards for most purchases! This produces results like VISA being held accountable for over 830 billion dollars of charges for the year of 2008. Americans are looking for ways to lower their credit debt or eliminate their credit card debt, without adding any additional debt (loans).

The most radical way to reduce credit debt is by cutting up your cards! Cut up cards, do not sign up for new ones, and pay with cash. When you pay with cash, the money must physically be in your hands to make a purchase; therefore you’re less likely to impulse buy, or to purchase unnecessary items. If getting rid of your credit card isn’t an option, or you would like to keep one for emergencies only, try a debit card instead.

Debit cards are useful because they withdraw electronically from your bank account. It’s a good way to keep from spending money you don’t have, but on the other hand you can’t physically see all the money you could be spending, so impulse buying is still likely.

The best way to lower your debt is to be aware of your surroundings and your financial situation. Try making a budget with a free online budget planner, or write your plan down. You can cut out monthly expenses and the average American could save 300 dollars a month just by planning a budget. Not only will you lower your debt by being aware of financial income and expenses and knowing what you can and cannot spend, you will also be able to use the extra money you saved toward paying off your credit debt!
